Change log:

0.4.6 - 2020-05-17Picard
  • Drastically sped up the speed of requests to MB by making API calls in separate threads. 1-sec between each request is still enforced due to MB API rate limit
  • Added caching to all MB API calls. This required adding a Least Recently Used cache to the program, and then checking for the request in the cache before making a request to MB for the resource. The cache will hold 100 entries and entries get marked stale after 60 minutes.
  • Added options to skip writing MB IDs for albumid, discid, trackid
  • Search by release-group ID for those of us who don't write albumid
  • Tagging dialog now usable on small resolution screens

How to install a component?

Picard For Windows

Picard is a powerful music tagger with many more features than most similar tools. Picard supports all popular music formats, including MP3, Ogg Vorbis, FLAC, MP4 (AAC), Musepack, WavPack, Speex, The True Audio and Windows Media Audio. WAVs cannot be tagged due to the lack of a standard for doing so, however, they can be fingerprinted and renamed. Picard uses AcoustID audio fingerprints, allowing files to be identified by the actual music, even if they have no metadata. Picard can lookup entire music CDs with a click.

Picard is very flexible and can be customized using scripts and plugins to do things such as:
Rename and reorganise your collection using the functions provided in the scripting language
Customize how Picard applies the MusicBrainz metadata to your files
Encapsulate scripting, download cover art, and add other functionality to Picard
